A stylish ring featuring an early 19th Centruy black glass cameo of the Roman emperor Claudius II Gothicus (AD 268 - 270), who is closely linked to Saint Valentine. The sides of the tapered ring have gold Caesar head motifs surrounded with red enamel, on a black enamel background. The edges of the cameo setting also have red and black enamel decoration.
